About Huawei Hong Kong Research Center (HKRC)

Established in 2018, HKRC is a fast-growing international research center that focuses on chipsets, software engineering, AI and theoretical research. For a short span of five years, HKRC saw its staff increase from over 100 members in 2019 to more than 460 in 2024. They come from more than 23 countries and regions, with 52% being PhD holders.

Having invested over USD10 million on technology cooperation each year, HKRC places great emphasis on R&D and has a successful track record in this regard. Equipped with well-furnished labs and offices, the research center hosts free tech talks and recreational activities on a regular basis.

About CBG Celia

CBG Celia is a level 3 department under the Consumer BG Cloud Service Dept with over 300 staffs. Currently, Celia has established teams in Beijing, Dongguan, Nanjing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Singapore, Canada, and Moscow, and has started strategic deployment at the Hong Kong Research Institute this year. We are committed to advancing the integration of multimodal large models and edge-side applications. At present, Celia has mastered knowledge at the trillions of tokens level, supports 23 top scenarios, and has integrated over 300 services through its intent framework, achieving a 90% task success rate. Going forward, Celia will serve as the interface for Huawei's AI capabilities.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Responsible for miniaturizing and optimizing the performance of large models (language, vision, speech, multimodal, etc.), including but not limited to model compression (quantization, pruning, distillation, etc.), pipeline parallelism, model parallelism, asynchronous training, and optimization of key components.
  2. Optimize model miniaturization and performance for specific hardware (e.g., Ascend, Kirin), build acceleration libraries, and interface with upper-layer AI applications to maximize chip hardware performance, pushing large models toward commercialization on both cloud and edge sides.
  3. Deeply understand and support rapid business development by abstracting new paradigms and universal tools for model miniaturization and performance acceleration, and propose key technological evolution plans for miniaturization and optimization as a domain expert.

 

Job Qualifications:

  1. Familiar with industry techniques for model miniaturization and performance optimization, with practical experience in optimizing large models for both edge and cloud environments, capable of creatively proposing solutions tailored to Huawei's specific business needs.
  2. Proficient in relevant knowledge areas such as computer vision, speech semantics, recommendation search, NLP, and computer system architecture.
  3. Have a certain degree of influence in the field of model miniaturization and performance optimization in academia or industry, able to quickly access relevant resources and participate in and promote related policy implementations.
  4. Possess keen technical insight to track cutting-edge industry developments and grasp future trends in model miniaturization and performance optimization.
